What is Injective?
Injective is a Layer 1 blockchain built specifically for financial applications, such as decentralised exchanges, derivatives and tokenised assets. The native token INJ is used for staking, governance, paying transaction fees and as insurance for protocols on the network. How does Injective work?
Injective is built on the Cosmos SDK and uses Tendermint BFT consensus to process transactions quickly and with instant finality. Validators stake INJ to secure the network and receive staking rewards in return. The network supports a fully on-chain order book, so trading applications can run without a central intermediary.

The technology behind Injective
The Injective blockchain is interoperable with other networks through IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) and bridges to Ethereum and Solana, among others. Injective also supports CosmWasm and EVM smart contracts, so developers can build DeFi applications in familiar environments.
The Injective ecosystem
The Injective ecosystem consists of DEXs, perpetuals platforms, prediction markets, RWA (real-world asset) projects and infrastructure providers. The network is backed by investors such as Pantera Capital, Jump Crypto and Mark Cuban, and has a growing number of applications running on top of the Layer 1.
Who founded Injective?
Injective was founded by Eric Chen and Albert Chon, who launched the project in 2018. Injective Labs develops the core technology and supports the ecosystem, while the network itself is run in a decentralised way by validators.
